These look great! I love the grey. When I put them together, I realized that 24″ might allow a puppy to crawl out.

I purchased one for a bedroom, and one (plus two panel add on) for the office area.

After a lot of thinking through, here is the best solution I found, and it turned out super easy to do!

I went to Home Depot and purchased 1 x 2 x 8 Furring Strips ($1.07 ea.) (I did NOT buy the pressure treated, as I have heard pressure treated is bad for dogs).
I had them cut 11 pieces at 36″ length each. (Each 4 panel playpen will need eleven 36″ long pieces)
Then I went and purchased #8 x 3/4″ wood screws.

The cut wooden slats fit perfect into the top of the playpen. I pressed against the wall a little to make sure it was a tight fit, and drilled the screws in at a little angle to catch the wood. Done!

On the double playpen, I can still pull out the hinge pin to separate them so I can change the litter box, etc.etc.

Total cost for all three playpen tops? $20! Bargain!

Works great for my baby shihtzu. She mastered paper training part one. She’s now down to using one paper. Eventually I will open more room for her as she grows and learns to always go on paper. I recommend this if your trying to paper train your dog. They will learn to use it in a confined space and eventually keep going to paper as you allow bigger spaces but keeping the paper in same spot. She still has room to play. I keep her in here for training purposes and sleep only. I don’t leave her in this crate at all times only for sleeping and after meals and when it looks like she is trying to find a spot needing to go.
