I have the next bigger pump in this same series (the 3000 as opposed to this 2100). They are physically identical in size and the size of the intake and outflow pipe (both inflo and outflow are 3/4″ on both models. The markings and the motor inside is the only difference.

here are some stats:

3000 inflo 3/4″ and outlfow size 3/4″ or 1 inch. min max flow adjustable gal/hr 476-793 , size width/height/depth 4.1, 3.1, 2.9″
2100 inflo 3/4″ outlfow size 3/4″ or 1 inch. min max flow adjustable gal/hr 370-555 size width/height/depth 4.1, 3.1, 2.9″
1000 5/8″ inflo outflow 5/8″ or 3/4″. min max flow adjustable gal/hr 106-260 size width/height/depth 1.9, 3.1, 2.9″
600 (no inflo pipe to connect hose, outflow 1/2″) min/max adj. gal/hr 66-159 size width/height/depth 1.5, 2.8, 2.4″
300 (outflow is 1/2″).

The choice on outflow is permanent (if you cut the end tip off the outlet tube on the 2100 or 3000 it becomes 1″. If not cut then it is 3/4″.
1000 cut the end its 3/4″ if not cut then it is 5/8″.
600 or 300 (the outflow is 1/2″ and there is no choice).

they all have 6 feet+ 4 inches power cord

Mine has run for 3 years 24 hours a day 7 days a week with zero problems. Almost all (perhaps all) Eheim powerheads and pumps for years and years all use the same suction cups which Amazon sells separately. model number 7271100 . But these CompactON pumps take a different suction cup (the cup itself has threads on its back and it screws to the pump housing,it is Eheim part number 7475518 on the 300 and 600. 7475538 on the 1000. 7475548 on 2100 and 3000.
All of The Ehiem Compact+ pumps and most of their heaters do take the #7271100 suction cups (they have no threads).
There are bad reviews on these suction cups, but I find they are renewable. just clean with water and paper towels or plastic dish scrub pad, work the cups with your fingers after applying 100% pure Vaseline (no additives). it takes awhile (3 minutes each) but the cups are then good as new. I do this every year.

These are completely 100% submersible. You could drop the whole thing in a tank of water and leave it there running all the time. But they are NOT for use out of the water. Of course the top of these pumps when mounted as a powerhead (by suction cups to the inside tank wall) can be out off or in the water. There is a waterline on the powerhead body. The water must not get below that line or the pump will overheat. So while it is submersible it is NOT unsubmersible except for the very top. You could NOT use this pump out of the tank water with two hoses (intake and outflow) attached and running into the tank.
