Years ago I lost several parakeets to digestive problems, so with the new parakeets in the family, I was determined to keep them healthy. Instead of purchasing plain seed powdered with vitamins and died so you think it looks healthy, I have purchased Dr. Harvey’s for almost a year. So far, these are the happiest, most healthy and colorful birds we have ever had. Their feathers just seem to glow and they are so active! I agree with another reviewer that the birds ignore the larger chunks of fruit, so it seems like a waste …. but still, I have noticed the difference in this natural food for the birds. We use about three tablespoons of food daily for two parakeets. One bag of food lasts about six weeks. It’s a great product!

Seems that the added items for balanced nutrition are sized for larger birds. My budgies love the seed but the dried fruits and veggies are too large for them to eat.
