Miniature Fairy Garden Soleirolia soleirolii, Baby Tears, Green
This plant has a number of common names, including angel's tears, mind-your-own-business, and peace-in-the-home. It prefers shade and moderate moisture and can even grow submersed in swampy environments. The ultra-miniscule creamy white star-flowers of May & June are insignificant, but the rich green color of the tiny round leaves provides a garden with an impression of a softly fine moss growing in moist shady areas. Although it can be evergreen in areas with scarcely any winter, it is also frost-tender, so in the Pacific Northwest it dies back in winter, but returns reliably in spring. Tips & Care: Mist occasionally with warm water. This plant is sensitive to dry air so place pebbles or gravel in the drainage dish to hold water and increase the humidity, make sure the pot is sitting on the gravel and not in the water. (Note: Miniatures are small items that pose potential choking hazards to small children. They are not toys. Any accessories pictured are not included, for illustrative purposes only.)

How to trim Baby Tears. Baby tears like a really hard trim if it is well-rooted in a good substrate. Once it is nicely rooted, you can cut the heck out of it. I also like pulling the whole plant up, root and all. Obviously, I am working with a ton of it here. If you have smaller quantities you would want to be more cautious. For me, the best length to start cutting is around 1.5 to 2 inches. This length gives you more room to get it down into the substrate. I actually brought out the long aquascaping tool for this video but forgot to use it. So yes, you can plant all of those tiny clippings if you want and have the time. I am really digging the 10 gallon tank by the way, mainly cause I can move it around. I should do a dirt, side by side 10 gallons with Baby tears. Tank on people!
