Marineland LED Strip Lights provide the ultimate opportunity to create a realistic underwater home-aquarium environment. This all-new line of LED lights is 20% brighter and is designed for reliable, long-term performance. Adjustable mounting legs allow for flexibility in fitting aquariums widths of 48-60 Inch. A daylight setting is brighter than a single tube fluorescent fixture and a lunar setting provides a realistic moonlight shimmer. Both settings are energy efficient; providing up to 25 in annual savings and up to 5 years of use.

  • Brighter than one fluorescent tube fixture
  • Energy efficient for up to 25 in annual savings and up to 5 year lifetime
  • Daylight LED lamps provide brighter output than typical single fluorescent bulb
  • Lunar LED Lamps provide energy efficient light that replicates the moon light cycle
  • Adjustable mounting legs for flexibility in 48-60" aquarium widths

I upgraded to a 48" Aqueon Modular LED Aquarium Light. LED's replicate the shimmering effect that natural sunlight and metal halides produce. The bulb that comes with the fixture is a 7 watt white daylight and peeks in the 460 nm range. The fixture is expandable up to three bulbs. I have added one more 7 watt white daylight, and I plan on adding Aqueon's 7 watt ColorMax bulb. This unit also has 4 lunar led's. The only drawback is that it only has one power cord, which means that this fixture isn't completely automated even with a timer. The fixture housing also has a black anodized aluminum finish. I've purchased more expensive fixtures in the past that had a cheap plastic housing.
The fish came out and resumed their normal behaviors about 15 minutes after I shot this video. I think my theory was right about the fish being spooked by the shimmer effect. The fish were purchased out of tanks that had flourescent lighting. Maybe they thought that the shadowing ripples were being created by a predator. What do you think?
